Wishing to enroll his son Daniel in the [American Literary, Scientific, and Military] academy operated by Partridge, advising that he had made application to the Secretary of War [John C. Calhoun] for his son to be appointed to West Point, and requesting additional details concerning expenses, etc.; together with appended letter, 12 June 1823, raising further questions re expenses, etc., and requesting promotional literature on the academy.
